Bell Aquaculture Expansions Among Highlights of Vision 2016 Program Successes

Quoting from

"The Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance held a combined Victory Breakfast and Annual Meeting today [Dec 11, 2012] at the Horizon Convention Center. It was announced that the $4 million fundraising effort to finance the new five-year Vision 2016 economic development program was not only achieved, but exceeded. It marks the largest economic development fundraising effort in the history of Muncie-Delaware County...

...The results for the first eleven months of the Vision 2016 program included: $68 million in new capital investment, 426 new and endangered jobs saved, $15.4 million in new and retained payroll and $500,000 in new loans to existing businesses. Highlights included Sallie Mae’s 200 job expansion; Spartech, Magna Powertrain, and Bell Aquaculture expansions along with the construction of 40,000 and 50,000 square foot expandable “shell buildings”. There have been 17 assisted projects to-date."

Vancouver Sun: 'Fish grown in closed containment systems offer big environmental advantages, proponents say'

Bell Aquaculture and Fish Rich were mentioned in a recent Vancouver Sun article on salmon farming - quoting the Sun:

"But using land-based systems that grow salmon to maturity have a number of advantages over net-pen farming, according to aquaculture systems researcher Steve Summerfelt of the Freshwater Institute in West Virginia.

CBSA 2012 Awards: Best Of Colorado's Bioscience Industry

Recipients of 2012 CBSA Awards include:

Educator of the Year - Shawndra Fordham, Biotech Teacher, Rock Canyon High School (Highlands Ranch) Shawndra Fordham’s enthusiasm and dedication to education has created one of the best programs in the state and has made an impact on her students and the industry. She has helped secure thousands of dollars in grant funding from federal institutions, foundations and industry and has created a program that challenges college curriculums around the country and her students have gone on to STEM focused majors and careers.
